The Safety Assistant will play a hands-on role in coordinating training, documentation, and compliance efforts — helping to ensure that every site, worker, and process meets or exceeds Jewel’s safety standards.

Compensation
- $26 to $30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
What You’ll Do
- Track certifications and schedule new or expiring safety training
- Conduct and document orientations for new hires and union workers
- Keep safety documentation organized and up-to-date
- Support program development for Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, and Emergency Response
- Help manage fit testing, confined space monitors, and annual hazard assessments
- Participate in audits, inspections, investigations, and safety meetings
- Assist with Return-to-Work coordination and WorkSafeBC communications
- Maintain and update safety manuals, binders, and online systems (ISNetworld, QC Solver, HCSS, HeavyJob)
- Prepare client documentation, reports, and safety statistics
- Order and manage PPE, signage, and other safety materials
- Coordinate travel, events, and other logistics as needed
- Research new PPE and safety best practices to keep Jewel at the forefront of safety innovation
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education or certification in Occupational Health & Safety (preferred)
- 1–2 years of experience in a safety, construction, or administrative support role
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills
- Tech savvy — confident using Microsoft Office and online safety platforms
- A collaborative attitude and ability to connect with crews, management, and clients
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and reliable transportation
