Hazelwood Finance, a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper to join the team. Please be aware that this position is based at our SCS Manufacturing facility, located at 2935 Trans Canada Highway in Nanaimo.

Compensation

  • $28.00 to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for daily, monthly, and annual transactions
  • Manage accounts payable (process invoices, issue payments, handle credit cards)
  • Oversee accounts receivable (invoicing, collections, and payment tracking)
  • Prepare bank deposits and reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
  • Post journal entries and maintain accurate financial records
  • Complete PST, GST, WCB remittances, and corporate tax installment payments
  • Track inventory, assets, amortization, leases, loans, and accruals
  • Maintain and update operational and financial data sets
  • Prepare and organize year-end working papers and supporting documentation
  • Respond to accounting-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready filing systems and documentation
  • Support development and improvement of accounting processes and systems
  • Assist with training team members and provide coverage as needed
  • Stay current on accounting standards, regulations, and best practices
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to support business analysis
  • Other duties as assigned – from time to time these job duties will be reviewed and may be altered to suit the needs of the Finance Department.

What You Bring:

  • 3–4 years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with QuickBooks Online
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • High level of integrity when handling sensitive financial information
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and eager to learn
  • Awareness of relevant standards, regulations, and compliance requirements
