Compensation

  • $80,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and prepare comprehensive cost estimates for conceptual, design-build, or general tender projects.
  • Calculate materials, labor, and equipment costs required for successful project execution based on proposals, plans, and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain a database of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Provide guidance on proposal processes and procedures.
  • Analyze received proposals, recommend acceptance or rejection.
  • Establish unit costs, labor rates, productivity benchmarks, and assess location-specific impacts.
  • Evaluate and propose allowances for indirect costs, design uncertainties, escalation, and contingencies.
  • Present estimates to clients and lead review meetings to address project details.
  • Review project specifications and drawings to define the scope of work and estimate requirements.
  • Prepare detailed takeoffs to accurately calculate project costs.
  • Maintain organized documentation to support estimate figures, including up-to-date pricing from suppliers.
  • Assist other departments by preparing estimates for multidisciplinary projects as needed.
  • Analyze design options and recommend cost-effective solutions considering quality and material availability.
  • Advise corporate and project management teams on project bidding opportunities.
  • Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of final estimate packages before submission.
  • Contribute to studies, materials evaluations, and cost estimates as required.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as directed by the General Manager.

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent construction experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction cost estimation.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting building specifications, blueprints, and as-built drawings.
  • Proactive in staying current with industry knowledge and trends.
  • Capable of working effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for material and labor estimates, as well as interpreting job cost reports.
  • Experience with cost-estimating software for preparing quotes and bids.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
