Hazelwood Finance, our support services arm, handles all administrative functions for The Hazelwood Group companies. Hazelwood Finance, a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a full-time IT Support Lead to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. Please note that travel will be required within the local Nanaimo area, so a vehicle is required.

Compensation
- $30 to $34 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Summary
The IT Support Lead is a senior technical resource responsible for resolving complex Information Technology (IT) issues, supporting core IT infrastructure, and mentoring junior technicians across the organization. He or she will assist with hardware and software troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance, and will play a key role in diagnosing and resolving technical issues and communicating with all users in the Hazelwood Group infrastructure. He or she will be required to assist with strategic IT planning, as well as identifying, selecting and deploying new technology to support organizational goals and objectives. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.
Job Duties
- Provide internal IT support and resolve escalated technical issues (computer & phone troubleshooting, software updates & fixes, hardware repair, server maintenance, network security, etc.).
- Guiding and mentoring other technicians with help desk tickets and support requests via email, phone and remote support.
- Maintain and administer Server environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Monitoring and implementing security controls and system software to protect servers and infrastructure, including endpoint protection, secure configurations, access controls, and data encryption solutions.
- Assist with the planning, deployment, operation and management of all IT services, and recommend appropriate technologies to support and improve corporate communications, access to information, and end-user productivity as directed.
- Manage backup and recovery systems, ensuring data protection and business continuity.
- Assist the IT Manager with project management for IT-related undertakings as directed.
- Assist the Network Administrator in building and maintaining security networks and systems.
- Investigating and documenting security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents.
- Stay informed on new or emerging trends and technologies that provide clear benefits to the organization, business partners, and/or customers.
- Create status reports as required, present findings to management.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure efficient and cost-effective acquisition of technology purchases; oversee warranties and service agreements.
- Act as an advocate for the IT department and its initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of IT experience, with at least 2 years of Tier 1+ support.
- CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE/365/Azure certification, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows client and server Operating Systems
- Detailed knowledge of general software (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, Sage 50, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of networking, servers, and M365 architectures.
- Experience with backup technologies (i.e. Veeam, Acronis), and system monitoring tools.
- Ability to explain technical concepts and theories to non-technical audiences.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of an organization.
- Effective time management and prioritization skills.
- Quality business interpersonal and customer service skills
- High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Able to think on your feet and troubleshoot effectively
- Scripting and automation ability in PowerShell, Power Automate, and PowerBI are assets.
- Knowledge of applicable IT laws and regulations.
