The Hazelwood Group is a growing, privately owned company with operations in construction, manufacturing, and real estate development across Western Canada. Based in Nanaimo, our Finance team supports the people and businesses behind it all.
We’re looking for a Payroll Administrator who thrives on accuracy, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in making sure every employee gets paid correctly and on time. You’ll be a key player, working closely with HR, Finance, and Benefits while helping keep payroll running smoothly across our organization.

Compensation
- $60,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
What You’ll Do
- Process accurate bi-weekly payrolls across multiple companies.
- Manage commissions, benefits, RRSPs, remittances, and reimbursements.
- Keep payroll compliant, accurate, and on time.
- Maintain employee payroll records and data integrity.
- Create meaningful payroll reports and analytics.
- Troubleshoot issues and find effective solutions.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance to keep everything in sync.
- Coach and support Payroll Assistants.
- Help lead year-end payroll activities and reporting.
- Improve processes and champion payroll best practices.
- Support team projects and jump in where needed.
What You Bring:
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification (National Payroll Institute) is preferred.
- 3–5 years of payroll experience (multi-company preferred).
- Hands-on with ADP, Eclipse, or Payworks.
- Solid understanding of Canadian payroll laws and tax rules.
- Strong computer skills, especially Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Exceptional attention to detail and data entry accuracy.
- Clear communication and time management skills.
- A team-player attitude with a readiness to pitch in wherever needed.
