SCS Manufacturing, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a full-time Powder Coater to join our team of hard-working, dedicated staff at our powder coating shop located at 1607 Woobank Rd, in Nanaimo, BC.

Compensation

  • $26-$34 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Summary

The Powder Coater will work in a team-oriented environment, where clear communication and the ability to take direction are essential. The role requires strong self-motivation and independence to handle routine challenges and meet deadlines effectively. The primary focus of this position is shop work, including the preparation and painting of metal pieces. Secondary responsibilities include customer interaction, maintaining shop cleanliness, and preparing items for shipment.

Job Duties

  • Set up and coat parts according to instructions and drawings.
  • Inspect metal parts prior to painting to ensure quality.
  • Prepare materials for painting and maintain equipment by troubleshooting malfunctions and reporting inaccuracies.
  • Document powder usage and assist in packaging, shipping, and receiving processes.
  • Collaborate with management and team members to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Adhere to company policies, practicing good housekeeping and safety procedures.
  • Inspect final product quality to ensure specifications are met.
  • Assist teammates in cleaning and organizing the shop space.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth shop operations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in powder coat painting is preferred.
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining powder coat spray guns.
  • Detail-oriented, hardworking, and skilled in hands-on tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
  • Capable of following directions and managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable working independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Team-oriented, driven, and committed to contributing to the company’s success.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required.
