Hazelwood Construction Services, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a Traffic Control Supervisor to join the team for various projects all over Vancouver Island.

Union rates apply and all benefits are provided through the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115.

Compensation

  • $26.75 per hour
  • Vacation pay: 13% of your hourly wage
  • Benefits eligibility: After completing 250 hours
  • Pension contributions: $4.80 per hour worked

Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Traffic Control Supervisor is responsible to establish, set up, and maintain work zone traffic control signs and delineation; to coordinate traffic control flaggers and/or tasks in complex and large work zones; to assist and perform skilled manual tasks; and to perform related work as required.

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations required by WCB, the Traffic Management Manual, and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
  • Ensure all safety requirements are met from a traffic management perspective as well as making sure all safety protocols and policies of Hazelwood Construction are being followed.
  • Manage Traffic Control staff and communicate daily plans.
  • Dispatch Traffic Control staff as required by liaising with the Site Foreman the day before.
  • Manage traffic setups and ensure they are strictly adhered to throughout the day.
  • Preform site checks and provide relief as needed for Traffic Control Persons.
  • Monitor the flow of public and construction traffic and ensure the safety & security of public and site crew.
  • Provide motorists with simple directions, explaining hazards.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in construction and/or paving.
  • TCP Certification.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Able to understand and setup traffic management plans on roadways.
  • Able to inspect traffic control setups.
  • Able to operate a lane control truck.
  • Able to communicate effectively with TCP’s, crew members, and the public.
  • Able to utilize technology (phones, tablets) for the use of dispatch and inspections.
  • Have excellent time management skills.
  • Be physically fit and reliable.
