Hazelwood Construction Services, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is currently hiring experienced Class 1 Truck Drivers for a variety of projects across British Columbia. We operate out of two Vancouver Island offices located in Nanaimo and Victoria.

Union rates apply and all benefits are provided through the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115.

Compensation

• $31.92 per hour
• Vacation pay: 13% of your hourly wage
• Benefits eligibility: After completing 250 hours
• Pension contributions: $5.00 per hour worked

Summary

The Class 1 Truck Drivers is a key member of our field operations, responsible for transporting construction equipment and materials safely and efficiently across a variety of job sites throughout Vancouver Island and BC.

Job Duties

• Safely operate Class 1 vehicles including trucks with pup and tri-axle trailers.
• Transport construction materials, equipment, and machinery between job sites.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and report any maintenance issues.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company procedures.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and crew members to meet operational schedules.
• Maintain accurate load documentation and daily driving logs.
• Ensure load security and proper weight distribution.
• Work in variable weather conditions and diverse site environments.

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 Driver’s License.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar driving role.
• Proven experience operating pup and tri-axle trailers.
• Clean Driver’s Abstract.
• Strong understanding of load securement and safe driving practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours and travel to various job sites across the Island and BC.
