We are looking for a seasoned Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to join our team for upcoming BC-wide projects, including major work on BC Hydro’s Bridge River system upgrades beginning April 2026. If you’re committed to safety excellence and ready for extensive travel and long-term assignments in remote environments, we want to hear from you.
Please note that this role requires extensive travel and long stays in remote locations for extended periods. Living allowances (LOA) will be provided.

Union rates apply and all benefits are provided through the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115.
Compensation
- $30 to $36 per hour depending on position, experience and qualifications
- Vacation pay: 13% of your hourly wage
- Benefits eligibility: After completing 250 hours
- Pension contributions: $5.15 per hour worked
What You’ll Do
- Implement and enforce the OH&S Management Plan.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all teams.
- Maintain site training records and develop site-specific safety procedures.
- Conduct safety observations, inspections, and daily safety meetings.
- Lead incident investigations and manage corrective actions.
- Maintain safety documentation, statistics, and incident registers.
- Coordinate equipment and vehicle inspections.
- Deliver orientations for new workers.
- Perform LV III first aid duties and maintain related records.
- Inspect and restock first aid equipment.
- Conduct rigging and fall protection inspections.
- Manage and distribute PPE.
- Liaise with client safety representatives.
- Support COR compliance and prep for audits.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and anticipate upcoming safety needs.
What You Bring
- High school diploma minimum; post-secondary education in Safety or related fields preferred.
- Recognized safety designation (CSO, NCSO, or equivalent).
- Valid OFA Level 3 (LVIII) certification.
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer).
- Physically fit for remote and rugged work environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong critical thinking and conflict resolution abilities.
- High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under pressure.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience in power generation projects.
- Ability to operate effectively in remote locations for extended durations.
