Jewel is a trusted name within the civil construction industry, we are a full-service Metal Fabrication, Welding, and Industrial Coatings Specialist. We have experience building pipelines, utilities infrastructure and hydroelectric penstocks in a variety of environments, including urban areas, steep mountain terrain and complex underground tunnel applications.
Jewel Welding Fabrication and Coatings Ltd., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking for a Pressure Welder to join the team in Maple Ridge and at various project sites around the Province. This is a full-time, year-round position with plenty of opportunity for overtime. Reliable transportation is required as we are not accessible by transit.

Compensation
- $35 to $45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Summary
As a Pressure Welder, you will work both in the shop and in the field, welding, fabricating, and assembling some of the largest steel pipes in the industry. You’ll play a key role in major infrastructure projects, directly impacting the communities we serve. This role requires a passion for welding, a commitment to productivity, and a willingness to take on new challenges and technical work in a dynamic environment.
Job Duties
- Perform welding, fabricating, and assembling of large steel pipes in both shop and field environments.
- Weld using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) techniques according to project requirements.
- Ensure all welds meet X-ray quality standards and comply with internal procedural tests.
- Follow welding specifications, blueprints, and work orders to ensure accurate and high-quality fabrication.
- Maintain proper heat input and Interpass temperatures while welding pressure pipes.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of welds to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Set up and operate welding machines, torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and report any defective welding equipment or materials.
- Keep the work area organized and free of hazards.
Requirements
- Valid welding certification, CWB, SMAW Or FCAW
- Minimum B level logbook or equivalent.
- Class “A”, “IT” or “R” certification from TSBC with the ability to pass our internal procedural tests for each job Jewel works on and produce X-ray quality welds on demand.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
- Ability to kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach above and below waist.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Willingness to travel to off-site locations as needed.
- Must have own steel-toe boots and hard hat.
