Pacific Industrial & Marine Ltd., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking for a full-time Health & Safety Coordinator to join the team of hard-working, dedicated staff at its Duncan-based facility.

Compensation

  • $35-$42 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Summary

Working closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Management, the Health & Safety Coordinator will manage a variety of Site, Shop, and Office safety aspects while ensuring employees and contractors remain in compliance with relevant safety legislation.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the management, execution, and continued improvement of the company’s HSE program (and COR program, if applicable).
  • Conduct new worker orientations and safety training, as well as incident investigations, site inspections, and hazard assessments.
  • Maintain and complete all necessary documentation, reporting, and records as per WorkSafeBC and Company practices.
  • Complete documentation for the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Program.
  • Keep management updated on issues as they arise.
  • Regularly monitor health, safety, and environmental compliance of workers.
  • Development of Site-specific Safety Plans.
  • Conduct regular safety drills.
  • Track TRIF ratings.
  • Perform administrative project support for superintendents and project managers.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proactive in identifying hazards and implementing corrective measures to ensure that health, safety & environment standards are being met on site.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep detailed and accurate health, safety & environment records.
  • Good knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, policies, guidelines and standards.
  • Valid OFA Level 3 Certificate.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must possess excellent communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Adaptable, and able to use good judgement and manage the unexpected.
